The Giant Leap -
Introduction to the Tarot
Classes 7pm - 9pm
Dates:
Thursday 12th March 2012
Thursday 16th August 2012

This evening is comprised of three sections:
First, the history. The ‘Golden Age’ of the Greek Empire is where we
find the roots of the tarot; we will follow their development, and
examine their influence on world history before arriving in
Renaissance Italy, where the history of tarot truly begins. Finally
we will look at the most significant period in theevolution of
modern tarot known pertinently as the Enlightenment.
Moving on to a brief overview of the basic structure and elements
of the Tarot deck as a whole, but not at the cards individually.
If you want to learn more about them, you need to come
to the First Steps Beginners course.
Lastly I will be sharing some of my personal perspectives on what
the tarot is, how it works in practice, and its application and
relevance in the modern age.
An interesting and informative evening in its own right, or, if you
are unsure about whether to commit to the First Steps beginners
course, as a ‘taster’ event, as the cost of this evening is deductible
from the course fee.

First Steps in Tarot -
Beginners Course
From 7pm - 9:30pm
Thursday 26th April - 7th June 2012
Monday 24th September - 5th November 2012
This course is an introduction to the basic foundations that the
modern perspective of the tarot is built upon. Establishing this base
gives students the opportunity to explore and develop the wider
potentials contained within the enigmatic images of the
tarot for themselves.
During this introductory course you will:
• Learn about the history and philosophy that surrounds the Tarot
• Examine the cards individually and collectively
• Have the opportunity to undertake experiential work with them
Course Content:
Topics I will cover over the seven weeks of the course will include:
• The mysterious archetypes, represented by the Major Arcana
• The Elements
• The personalities and characterisations of the Court cards
• The magic of Numbers, and the Tree of Life
• Spreads & Readings

Tarot Stories -
Intermediate Level

The First Steps course has to cover an extensive amount of material,
and as a result of this some topics don’t get as much attention as they
deserve. One such aspect is reading in practice.
To address this deficiency I created this short course which can be done
as a direct follow on from First Steps, or if you prefer, you can do it at
some time in the future. This course would also be suitable for people
who have prior experience with the tarot and want to develop
further in new ways.
Looking at the art of storytelling from both traditional and modern
perspectives, and employing a variety of principles employed by
storytellers, this course is aimed at people who are already developing
an understanding of individual cards and who want to explore new
ways of weaving these strands together to create coherent stories.
These classes, which are mainly practical, and often a lot of fun, are a
structured developmental sequence; each one features a different
card combining exercise.
Class 1: Characters & Interactions
Class 2: Moving Narratives
Class 3: Client Stories
All of these exercises can be used later for your own practice and development

Tarot
The development of the tarot reaches far back in time and follows a
philosophical, religious, and scientific path that is reflected in the
story of human development and global culture.
From ancient Gnosticism, through the practices of astrology and
alchemy; to the occult revival of the past century; and now totally
re-visioned from the radical new perspectives of reality discovered
through the theories of Quantum Physics.
We are in an age where knowledge is expanding at an amazing pace;
this new understanding of the subtle forces in nature, the universe,
and in ourselves provides us with the opportunity for a completely
new perspective on the Tarot.
